Interview from Anne Leighton
Jani and I caught up last night. First off he knows nothing about
a "dance mix" of "I Saw Red" but is absolutely intrigued, so if anyone has ordering
instructions, please share. Warrant ARE doing an album-- of a different sort
for Cleopatra Records-- cool. Jani says he might play drrrrrums on it, we'll see.
Sony? CMC? He says, right now, it's up in the air what label the next Warrant album will be on, but as confirmed all over the place (hi Erik), the Akita-owning Mr. Erik Turner will be in the band. (I didn't know you had akitas, are they as gentle as the one--RRRRINGO-- I'm fostering? Why do you own Akitas, Erik? What are their names?).
For Jeanne to know, he's very impressed with your Danny's playing... "He can do anything. Vikki got another gig, and 'cause it caught into our tour--WHICH WILL BE GOING ON FOR SEVEN MORE WEEKS through end of year including
NewYork area dates-- Danny said, 'hey, I can play drums, So we were happy not
to hire ANOTHER guy."
Jani's handling the road managing, and he's keeping track of stubs, receipts and other things. He's alchohol-free. I don't remember if it's three months. He's created a drink for socializing, and I can't remember what it is. He's very encouraged by the fans who offer to buy him a drink, to which he responds, "I don't do that anymore."and most of them have said, "Right on."
Writing-- he's discovering new ways to write. This includes getting up in the
morning, sipping coffee and smoking cigarette, sitting outside, and writing a
few ideas. Then he has all day to think about it. He'll probably always have
a night-time writing love, tho' but he's definitely challenged with new ways
in writing.
He recently did a photo shoot with Neil Zlozower, who hasn't seen him for
years, and Neil liked the way he looked. Neil was in shock when Jani came in
for the shoot, because he was used to the recent photos from METAL
EDGE, and concerned about what kind of blob would be there. SURPRISE!
And another great thing about sobriety is that he can be counted on for 10 am
meetings with other writers and business folks. This is very good.
I forgot to tell him about the BIG REEL FISH/REEL BIG FISH! (conversation that was taking place in the warrant e-mail group) There's probably some other Warrant business from our conversation, but I don't remember. I definitely don't have specific tour dates, but I guess we'll soon start seeing them in POLLSTAR.
Seven weeks, gang.... Seven weeks with Erik!
